Welcome fellow humans.
Well I have finally got around to publishing a blog. Why now? The tipping point came last week whilst attending the funeral of one of my contemporaries who had succumbed to cancer. He was 60 years old and it was heart breaking to witness the grief of his beautiful family and yet heartwarming to see the hundreds of friends who came to bid farewell to a loved one gone too soon.
I had many conversations that day the majority of which concluded that we would be meeting again soon and more frequently at funerals because we were at an age when whatever was gonna get us would be showing up real soon. There was an acceptance of the inevitability that one of the big 4, cancer, diabetes, heart disease or a stroke will happen and it’s a lottery whether it will be you! This I found sad that people were walking around as if they had a target on there back waiting to be picked off by the sniper of the Grim Reaper. As if they believed they had no control of their health and well-being. I say NO! NO! NO!
My intention here is to help you make yourself a smaller target so that you can live a long, disease free life and vital life, sparing you and your loved ones the pain an suffering of an early demise.
The answers are simpler than you may think, they always are, most of them you will have heard about many times but perhaps ignored. Most ailments have their roots in poor nutrition and lifestyle choices. The are other factors such as food quality, toxins, GMOs and environmental issues that affect us negatively, as well as our mental, emotional and spiritual states, all of which I intend to address in the coming issues.
First a little background on me. I’m pushing the wrong end of my 6th decade on this planet. I trained as electrical engineer after leaving school and have had various careers in that field but I have always had an interest in health and well-being. I remember vividly a pivotal moment when my thinking about health was change forever, a kind epiphany! I was in Toronto, Canada back in the summer of 1992. Lying in my hotel bed one morning listening to the radio when I heard an interview with an ex Hollywood actor and stunt man, Sir Jason Winters. I remember his very distinctive, actors voice as he described his battle to overcome cancer. He had a tumour the size of a grapefruit on his neck and his doctors recommended an operation to cut away a large portion of his neck and chest losing his voice box in the process, this would have given him an extra 6 months of life. He rejected the proposed treatment and chose to travel the world seeking a cure. He eventually found three herbs from three different continents which when combined as a tea allowed him to make a full recovery and live a normal healthy life until his death in 2004 from a heart attack. I acquired his book “The Sir Jason Winter’s Story” which in those pre-Amazon days meant having my Cousin buy it in America and post it to me in the UK. Having read the book my realisation was that our body has an innate intelligence to heal and maintain itself and that nature provides all that ingredients to achieve that.
So what’s the point of spending the hours putting together a blog?
Well I have a busy mind and am always asking questions. The latest one goes someway to answering that question. Why am I able to implement the healthy lifestyle tips and many are not? The answer I have come up with is that at some point my paradigm changed, my way of looking at the world altered and it changed my thoughts, feelings and most importantly actions regarding my health and well-being. My reason therefore dear reader is to in some way through this blog to educate and stimulate you in such a way that will cause a paradigm shift in you that will change the way you approach your health and make different lifestyle choices that will lead to a long, aliment free and vital long life.
